Bot request modificare

I like to have a bot-flag for user:CarsracBot so it can add and remove interwiki links to other wikivoyage projects. More info you can find on the userpage. Is more test edits really necessary? My bot is only doing find and replace using AWB, and it has made thousands of edits on other wikis. Wikidata is coming soon modificare

Heya folks :)

I am sorry for posting this in English. I hope someone can help translate it.

So Wikidata is finally starting to get real with this sister projects thing. We'll be starting with Wikivoyage since this is comparatively similar to Wikipedia. We'll take it easy at the beginning and just go for the language links between the different language editions of Wikivoyage.

On July 18th we will change test.wikidata.org to be able to store links to Wikivoyage in addition to Wikipedia. You can test it there then and make sure there are no huge issues we have not noticed yet. On July 22 we will enable this on wikidata.org and the Wikivoyages.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • This is only for links between Wikivoyages for now. More will follow later.
  • Access to the other data like timezones, airport codes and so on will not be enabled yet. That will follow later as well.
  • There will be no automatic links to/from Wikipedia for now.

Some specific things about the language links:

  • It'll no longer be needed to keep them in the wikitext like it is currently.
  • It'll still be possible to do so however but this will overwrite the links coming from Wikidata.
  • With the magicword noexternallanglinks links from Wikidata can be turned off on an article either for all languages or only specific ones.

A page on Wikidata has been created where you can find someone to help you in case of issues and as usual I am available to answer any questions you might have.

Wikidata is here! modificare

Sorry for writing in English.

I just wanted to let you know that the first part of Wikidata has now been enabled here. This means you no longer have to store interwiki links in the article's wiki text but can do so via Wikidata. This also means that it no longer has to be kept in sync across all the languages but is only stored and edited in one place. Please keep in mind that if you keep local interwiki links in the wiki text they will overwrite the ones on Wikidata. You can now start migrating the links or wait for one of the bots to come and do it for you. Access to other information on Wikidata like timezones, airport codes and so on is not enabled yet. This will follow in the future. Access to data from Wikidata coming to Wikivoyage modificare

(Sorry for writing in English. I hope someone can translate this for me.)

Last month Wikivoyage was the first sister project that gets their language links from Wikidata. A large part of the language links have been migrated by now from the articles' wiki text to Wikidata.

The next step is enabling access to the actual data on Wikidata for Wikivoyage. We are planning to do this on 26th of August. Once this is enabled you will be able to use data like the currency, country calling code and time zones from Wikidata if you want.

To use data from Wikidata in a Wikivoyage article you have two options:

  • parser function. To get the country calling code for the country described by the article for example just use {{#property:country calling code}} or {{#property:P474}}.
  • Lua. The details about access to data via Lua is explained at mw:Extension:WikibaseClient/Lua.

Important note: No articles will be changed automatically by the software to make use of Wikidata. Articles and templates will have to be adapted by you to make use of the data. meta:Wikidata/Deployment Questions answers some of the questions you might have. If you have further questions please do let me know. d:Wikidata:Wikivoyage migration has a number of people who are familiar with Wikidata and Wikivoyage who can also help you out in case you run into any issues.

I hope access to the data Wikidata can provide will help you make Wikivoyage rock even more. I travel a lot and Wikivoyage has proven to be extremely useful. Thanks for your work, folks :)

I just wanted to let you know that from now on you have access to the data that is on Wikidata. To get a feeling for what kind of data we are talking about please have a look at the Wikidata item about Andorra. More is being added constantly. We hope this will be useful for you and help you continue to create great articles.

To make use of the data in an article or template you have two ways:

  • Parser function. To get the country calling code for the country described by the article for example just use {{#property:country calling code}} or {{#property:P474}}. (There are still issues with properties related to coordinates and time when using the parser function. bugzilla:48937 and bugzilla:50277 are tracking these.)
  • Lua. The details about access to data via Lua is explained at mw:Extension:WikibaseClient/Lua.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • No article or template is edited automatically by the software behind Wikidata. You will have to adapt them by hand or using a bot to make use of it.
  • Right now it is only possible to access data from the specific Wikidata item that the Wikivoyage article is linked to. We are working on making it possible to access data from other items as well. bugzilla:47930 is tracking the progress on this.

Wiki Loves Monuments on Wikivoyage modificare

 
Logo Wiki Loves Monuments

This month it is the 4th year that volunteers from Wikipedia and Wikimedia organize Wiki Loves Monuments, an international photo contest focused on monuments, the cultural heritage the world has. In 2010 it was organized for the first time in the Netherlands only. That was big success and was in 2011 expanded to 18 countries in Europe. In 2012 it went worldwide with 35 countries around the globe. In 2012 the Guinness World Records recognized the 2011 as the "Largest photography competition" in the world. Last week we received the message that they recognize the 2012 as the largest now, but has to be updated on their website, see: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-6000/largest-photography-competition/

Yesterday on 1 September the 2013 edition started with more than 50 countries. On the first day already more than 14.000 new images of monuments have been uploaded. All these images will enrich the lists of monuments on Wikipedias and the articles about specific monuments, so that our cultural heritage becomes visible to the public. Many of those images can be used for articles in Wikivoyage as well to illustrate what can be seen on that voyage there.

To inform visitors of Wikipedia and Commons that Wiki Loves Monuments is going on and everyone can participate, we have set up a notice on top of every Wikipedia or Commons page if the visitor lives in a country where the photo contest is organized. If the Wikivoyage community wishes, it is also possible that this notice is shown above Wikivoyage pages to inform visitors and users of Wikivoyage that they can participate.

Each participating country has a national team that organizes the competition, with a jury, prizes, lists of monuments, website or landing page. The winners of each country (the ten best pictures) will also participate in the international contest and can there win prizes as well.

You can participate as well in this contest! If you ever made a photo of a registered monument, you can participate by uploading it in September through the special upload campaigns.

Images that are uploaded as part of Wiki Loves Monuments are added to the category Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 and are added to subcategories of the category Cultural heritage monuments by country.

Scoaterea din amorțeală modificare

Salut, începând de ieri sunt administrator temporar la Wikivoyage. Scopul meu aici pentru următoarele 6 luni e să scot pe cât posibil din amorțeală proiectul, aducându-l la un nivel mai apropiat de Wikipedia în limba română din punct de vedere al formatelor și facilităților existente.

Ca prim pas, am transformat diacriticele incorecte și am importat scripturile de conversie a diacriticelor de la Wikipedia. Asta ne va permite tuturor să scriem cum vrem, dar în baza de date vor fi păstrate diacriticele corecte.

Pasul următor ar fi importul unor formate de bază atât de la Wikipedia, cât și de la versiunea engleză a Wikisource și folosirea lor în articole. O listă (incompletă) de formate ar fi:

  • {{f}} - pentru a oferi legături ușoare către formate   Realizat
  • {{coord}} - pentru coordonate; odată cu formatul a fost importat și scriptul care permite afișarea unei hărți OpenStreetMap în partea de sus a paginii   Realizat
  • {{intrare}} - metaformat pentru legături către diferite locații din ghiduri. Vezi documentația pentru exemple de utilizare.   Realizat

În cea de-a treia fază, trebuie investit timp în formarea unei infrastructuri unitare de categorii și în corectarea eventualelor greșeli din formatele {{IsIn}}. De asemenea, vreau să pregătesc terenul pentru atragerea mai multor vizitatori prin legături dinspre articolele Wikipedia spre Wikivoyage.

În cele din urmă, îmi propun să import conținut de pe Wikipedia:

  • articole întregi, ca de exemplu w:Trasee turistice montane din România
  • secțiuni despre cazare sau lucruri de făcut prin zonă
  • liste de monumente istorice pentru fiecare localitate
  • coordonate și date statistice despre județele și localitățile pentru care avem ghiduri.

Propunere de politică: structură de categorii modificare

Deoarece experiența de la Wikipedia în limba română a arătat că o prea mare libertate în a crea categorii duce la situații dubioase (vezi de exemplu situația de la oameni în viață), vă propun să avem o politică cu privire la arborele de categorii de la Wikivoyage.

Categoriile pentru destinațiile turistice vor fi bazate pe 3 direcții:

  • împărțirea formală (continent-regiune din continent-țară-regiune din țară)
  • împărțirea informală (organizații suprastatale gen UE sau regiuni informale, gen Orientul mijlociu)
  • tipul de destinație

Cu aceste tipuri, împărțirile ortogonale gen Categorie:Orașe nu ar mai fi necesare. În plus, vom păstra câte o categorie pentru alte tipuri de articole, ca de exemplu Categorie:Liste și categoriile administrative.

Categoriile vor fi create automat până la nivel de țară, mai jos fiind create pe măsură ce devine necesar (mai exact, când există mai mult de 1 articol pentru categoria nou creată).

Un arbore incomplet al categoriilor este prezentat mai jos. Exemple pentru categoriile de sub țară și articolele conținute sunt date pentru România. Față de categoriile sub-naționale prezentate aici, dacă sunt mai mult de 5 articole într-o regiune, se creează o categorie pentru regiunea respectivă.

Subscriu cu privire la structura categoriilor. O altă problemă a proiectului după părerea mea este că utilizatorii nu prea au clară delimitarea între Wikipedia și Wikivoyage, de aceea nu scriu informațiile în wiki-ul care trebuie; desigur că la ambele proiecte e aceeași problemă că multe articole rămân în stadiul de Ciot din cauză că fiecare scrie despre ceea ce știe și a vizitat.

One year Romanian Wikivoyage modificare

Hello Romanian Wikivoyagers,
congratulations, on 6 February it was 1 year since the ro.wikivoyage.org subdomain was created & content import started. From the Wikimedia Incubator & Language Committee, we would like to get some feedback from newer wikis about their situation.

We prepared some questions about what we would like to know. Feel free to answer as many of them as you like.

  1. How has activity developed after the subdomain's creation? (in comparision with the situation before on Incubator, and what you know about Wikitravel)
  2. Is it now easier to be found by new users? How was the reception of the new wiki: in media maybe? in friends/family circles?
  3. Were your expectations in general fulfilled or not?
  4. Would you have done something in a better/different way in hindsight?
  5. Is there anything where you say 'This should have been better during the testing phase (Incubator, Langcom)'?

Recently I've noticed the several articles has been created on ro:voy. This is excellent because it's a sign of a growth desire. On the other hand, I've seen some of these articles consist of only one sentence and no article template have been applied (e.g. Hawaii, Alaska, etc... check here for more).

The reason why I'm highlighting this, is because in it:voy we have decided that this stubs ruin the image of the site, because when a visitor reach that page (from an search engine or from an internal link) he won't find there any information.

Is this ok according to ro:voy rules or not? If there's no specific rule about it, I would suggest you to discuss internally in order to take a position about it (pro or cons). This will allow you to understand if you have to keep or delete them ... or in any case to improve/correct them! ;-)

Fractură de lexic: „LOCAȚIE” modificare

Poposesc aici la han pentru a atrage atenția asupra unui aspect care nu îmi place - cuvântul neromânesc și calchiat LOCAȚIE pe care tot îl văd pe aici. Locație, tradus forțat din engleză după location, are în limba română alt sens principal, conform DEX:

LOCÁȚIE, locații, s. f. 1. Închiriere. ♦ Chirie plătită pentru anumite lucruri luate în folosință temporară. ◊ Taxă de locație = taxă care se plătește drept sancțiune în caz de depășire a termenului de încărcare sau de descărcare a vagoanelor de cale ferată sau a autovehiculelor. 2. (Jur.; în sintagma) Contract de locațiune = Contract prin care una dintre părți se obligă să procure și să asigure celeilalte părți folosința unui lucru pentru un timp determinat în schimbul unei sume de bani.

Echipa de la ultima ediție a DEX a introdus de nevoie forma calchiată din limba engleză, care este atât de nespecifică și urâtă. O „locație” poate fi un oraș de pe hartă, interiorul unei case sau în egală măsură un spațiu virtual pe harddisk sau chiar spațiul dintre noptieră și pat. Vă îndemn cu tărie să renunțați la cuvântul acesta - poate chiar printr-o normă! - și să îl înlocuiți, după caz, cu: așezare, amplasare, loc, spațiu,... etc -- Petru Dimitriu (discuție) 5 mai 2014 22:35 (EEST)[răspunde]

A Fistful of Nuggets - O provocare pentru wiki românesc! modificare

 

Salutare, tuturor!

Am stabilit o provocare pentru toate proiectele lingvistice Wikivoyage: pentru a completa doar peste 10 de articole pe unele dintre cele mai pepite de aur din Țara Galilor - mic colt de această planetă, unde m-am născut și pâine! Fiecare articol are nevoie de câteva elemente esențiale: de somn, bea și să mănânce, precum și 2000 bytes de text. Prima limbă pentru a finaliza Challenge va primi un Gold Dragon Barnstar - la fel de bine ca utilizatorul care a adunat cele mai multe puncte. Distreaza-te!

Badge function in Wikidata modificare

Dear Wikivoyagers, contributors, readers, travellers...
Wikidata has introduced badges to denote good and featured articles in Wikipedia. These article statuses are displayed with stars in the interlanguage links. Maybe you think, this feature is useful on Wikivoyage and should be implemented on Wikivoyage as well. There is a discussion on meta to develop a common strategy and request the needed functionality from Wikidata. Please joine the discussion, if you are interested in the new feature. Global AbuseFilter modificare

Hello,

AbuseFilter is a MediaWiki extension used to detect likely abusive behavior patterns, like pattern vandalism and spam. In 2013, Global AbuseFilters were enabled on a limited set of wikis including Meta-Wiki, MediaWiki.org, Wikispecies and (in early 2014) all the "small wikis". Recently, global abuse filters were enabled on "medium sized wikis" as well. These filters are currently managed by stewards on Meta-Wiki and have shown to be very effective in preventing mass spam attacks across Wikimedia projects. However, there is currently no policy on how the global AbuseFilters will be managed although there are proposals. There is an ongoing request for comment on policy governing the use of the global AbuseFilters. In the meantime, specific wikis can opt out of using the global AbuseFilter. These wikis can simply add a request to this list on Meta-Wiki. More details can be found on this page at Meta-Wiki. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on m:Talk:Global AbuseFilter.
